Audubon Journey Through the Watershed Game (Grades 5-8 )
This board game, available through the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, was created with a 5-8th grade audience in mind and can be modified for a younger audience. Children move their rain drop pieces through the board, collecting pollution cards for negative actions regarding stormwater and Narragansett Bay awards for positive actions. Audubon Bay Animals Like it Clean and Salty Activities (Grades 5-8)
These classroom activities include maps and other visual resources, and are available on loan from the Audubon Society. Students learn to:
- Investigate the historical presence of non-point pollution to Narragansett Bay by simulating sediment core sampling;
- Identify plankton to determine the effects of petroleum on estuarine ecosystems;
- Compare and match pollutant concentration patterns with sampling sites around the Bay to indicate different kinds of land use;
- Investigate the impacts of organic pollutants on Bay communities by going through the process of obtaining photos of sediment profiles and using visual analysis.

EPA – A Day in the Life of a Drop (Grades 3-5)
A Day in the Life of a Drop is a set of activities designed to help students understand the connections between the source of the water they use and the ways their water use habits affect the environment and human health. Students also learn how to reduce their impacts and engage family members. The website includes activities and teachers instructions.

Northern RI Conservation District (NRICD) Tool Kit for Urban Rivers
Public outreach and education strategies and programs that target both children and adults Woonasquatucket River’s “Do’s and Don’ts” campaign. It has a public safety focus with information on reaching a multilingual audience and includes lesson plans with a watershed focus.

Project WET- Water Education for Teachers
Project WET workshops are periodically held in RI to instruct teachers how to teach about water in an innovative and interactive manner.
